Baseball Protection for the Body

While baseball is without a doubt one of the most popular sports, anyone who loves the game is also well aware of the fact that you can sustain heavy injuries if you are not well protected. There are a number of equipment that is designed to protect you from sustaining injuries that could potentially sideline you for a long recovery period. Let us look at these protection gear and their main functions.

  1. Head

One of the most common heads protection gear is the helmet mainly worn by batters and catchers. However, there are also cap liners worn under the hat. These liners will distribute the impact providing protection for pitchers and infielders.

  1. Elbow

Injuries to the elbows are among the most common types sustained on the baseball pitch. To provide optimum protection, elbow guards are worn over the elbow. They are made of durable yet lightweight material and ensure that the player slides while keeping the arm and elbow safe.

  1. Hand and wrist

Wrist guards work in a similar fashion to elbow guards and are designed to disperse impact. They can be worn by pitchers and batters and provide ample protection. Wrists and hands are among the most injured part of the player’s body in a match.

  1. Knee

From bruises to abrasions the knees could sustain injuries that could mean that the player is out of the field for quite some time. For the best protection for your knees, make use of knee pads which will also keep the joint safe.

  1. Shin and ankle

The shin and ankle will normally sustain injuries during sliding and while making sharp turns. One can tear a tendon that would cause immense pain. Ankle guard will help cover the shin top of the foot and shin. They have a hard shell that will disperse impact keeping you safe.
