Rawlings Velo Pro Wood Baseball Bat
Not only is it Maple wood, but it has bamboo too! Two of the most durable woods in baseball bats are now in one. You can imagine the density and overall amazingness that the Rawlings Velo holds.
Just to talk about Rawlings real quick, they are one of the best in baseball right now along with Easton and Marucci. That tells you the performance of this product is just going to blow you away with the attention to detail that they include with their products. Rawlings has been around forever and is a regular household name for baseball products. I’ve owned a lot of Rawlings products before, and they all have given me the tools I need for baseball. Not to mention all of the MLB players that firmly believe in Rawlings.
Design
To start this is a drop three (-3) length to weight ratio so you can use this in high school and college leagues. Another little thing that is nice is that this bat is BBCOR certified which is needed in most leagues nowadays. BBCOR just shows that the ball doesn’t come off of the bat too quickly.
Ok, here it is, the maple and bamboo deal that’s going on here. Usually what manufacturers mean when there are two kinds of wood in a bat is that one is the handle and one is the barrel. The Rawlings Velo has a bamboo barrel and a maple handle. The composite is located inside the barrel and keeps the bat speed up.
Bamboo is a sturdy wood which is great for contact hitters. A remarkable thing about Rawlings is that they use eco-friendly bamboo which gives you that piece of mind that you have a high-quality wood without tearing down forests for it.
Performance
The Rawlings Velo is incredible for contact hitters, like most wood bats. Regarding balance, it gives a nice and level swing that most people appreciate.
The composite and bamboo mix gives some nice pop that’s perfect for a liner to the gap or a nice base hit. I know that when I played, I would appreciate the Rawlings Velo Pro Wood.
If you didn’t know, Velo means medium, which in this case describes the barrel. It is not too big but not too small. The reason for this is to give some excellent bat speed and to make it a little denser. When the bat is compact, it is easier to swing through the ball, giving you better hits. I love the Velo line of bats that Rawlings have.
Overall if you want a reliable bat for base hits, this is the one for you. Not a bad price too if you ask me, especially since I consider this a premium wood bat.
