Rawlings Quatro Baseball Bat Review

Rawlings Quatro

This bat created a lot of buzz this year when there was a lot of problems with it.  Let me tell you what I think about it and you can make your decision off that.

The Rawlings Quatro is a pretty nice baseball bat if you ask me.  It has a giant barrel, made out of composite, and is a nice balanced version of other Rawlings bats.

Rawlings hasn’t been messing with the two-piece design area for a while and they just got into the game.  Sure I think that they are a professional bat maker, but everyone makes mistakes.

While I did not see any damage done to it, there has been rumors that this bat breaks easily.  I have seen pictures of it in half, or just reviews online that say that it broke.  Since then I believe that Rawlings has resolved these issues.

Before we get started I want to say that if you are not a serious baseball player, go for something less expensive.  That is one of the only problems that I have with this bat besides it breaking in some cases.  The price is crazy high for my taste, and it seems like the quality just isn’t there yet.

Design

The design of this bat features a couple of things that we have, and have not seen from Rawlings in the past.  One is that it has a two-piece design which a lot of hitters like.  There are many reasons why to implement a two-piece design into a bat but one can be for balance.

I know that with the two-piece design there can be some problems, like bad vibrations on bad hits.  Rawlings tries to combat this with their VDT (vibration dampening technology).  I like this because sometimes if I’m behind on the fastball, it hits the handle part or the connector part.  That isn’t so pleasant.

The Rawlings Quatro really stands out with its lemon-yellow color to it.  This reminds me of the Easton Mako that looked like a highlighter from a distance.  The Rawlings Quatro is much better though as it has some cool futuristic designs on it.

One last design feature is the patented hinge system.  What this does is gives extra flex to the bat to increase power transfer and allows you to stay in the zone longer.  That is the “it” factor that I look for with modern baseball bats and it looks like it is holding up pretty well.

Overall

The Rawlings Quatro isn’t really my taste.  It is pretty expensive, and it had some flaws and breaks.  Especially with that price, I try to stay away from testing it out.

There are some awesome features to this bat as well, like that new hinge technology that provides better flex.  I mean it doesn’t get any more different than that.  The only other thing that I can think about is the giant sweet spot on the Rawlings Quatro.  Overall it isn’t really my taste but if you feel comfortable with this style and price go for it.
