Durability was definitely a key feature in the making of the Louisville Slugger Select 718. Thats why the Louisville Slugger 718 has an aluminum barrel made of the dense ST 7U1+ alloy. Design

The barrel length is increased with its new Speed Ballistic End-cap which also serves to redistribute the weight for better control during swings. Performance

The Slugger Select 718 brings with it the benefits of both composite bats and alloy bats. The alloy side brings with its own benefits as well, making it more durable and with the added advantage of being used when damaged. This is because alloy bats can be used when dented as opposed to composite bats that cannot be used when cracked. With the alloy barrel, there is generally no break it time required as with the composite barrel.
