Louisville Slugger Select 718 Baseball Bat Review

Louisville Slugger Select 718

Hey whats up guys, it’s Chris here with another review on a stellar baseball bat that everyone has been craving this season.

Having been out of the limelight for a year, Louisville is back with the all-new 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 baseball bat. If you are a heavy hitter, this bat will definitely catch your attention. It has the greatest swinging weight score when compared to other 2018 models.

Durability was definitely a key feature in the making of the Louisville Slugger Select 718. Thats why the Louisville Slugger 718 has an aluminum barrel made of the dense ST 7U1+ alloy. To better accommodate the strain of the hard hits, it’s TRU3 technology is designed to absorb the vibrations from every hit meaning that your hand is well protected from the shock waves during mishits.

Design

The barrel length is increased with its new Speed Ballistic End-cap which also serves to redistribute the weight for better control during swings. In other words, the new end cap lets you be able to increase your swing speed. On top, the bat has a custom lizard skin Baseball bat grip that improves handling and control as well as adding to reduce the negative vibrations during mishits.

If you don’t know, lizard skin bat grips are known to be the best in baseball.  This company only focuses on baseball bat grips, as you might know.  You’ll be the only one on the team with one of the most comfortable grips.  They also have all kinds of colors if you want to check it out.

Features of the Louisville Slugger Select 718 (-3) Baseball bat include:

  • 2 and 5/8 in barrel diameter
  • -3 length to weight ratio
  • Certified (BBCOR) stamp for both college and high school level approvals
  • 12-month warranty from the manufacturer.
  • Composite handle
  • Lizard skin grip that is extremely comfortable to the hand.
  • Hybrid construction meaning that it comes with an alloy barrel as well as a 100% composite handle.
  • Swing weight score 3 slightly end loaded.

The barrel alloy creates a massive sweet spot with a great pop. Between the handle and the barrel is the Louisville Slugger’s patented re-connection piece that adds towards reducing the negative vibrations giving you the smoothest feels during hits.

Performance

The Slugger Select 718 brings with it the benefits of both composite bats and alloy bats. Due to the composite nature, the sting due to vibrations caused by mishits is reduced making it gentler to the hand while having a larger sweet spot and more pop. The alloy side brings with its own benefits as well, making it more durable and with the added advantage of being used when damaged. This is because alloy bats can be used when dented as opposed to composite bats that cannot be used when cracked. With the alloy barrel, there is generally no break it time required as with the composite barrel.

It comes 31 inches in length and 28 oz in weight. The Louisville Slugger Select 718 (-3) is undoubtedly the most end loaded bat in the 2018 LS line up.

The bat is created by the Hilleric & Bradsby Company that is located in Louisville Kentucky. The company has been making baseball bats for over a century time and has been a famous name throughout baseball history. Indeed, the Louisville Slugger is among the most popular bats in the world of baseball. With the kind of history that this type of bats has, you are assured of quality, durability and high research innovations and technology.

These guys are all over baseball with the creation and development of gear such as helmets, batting gloves, catchers gear among others.
