Easton S650 Baseball Bat Review

Easton S650

Is the Easton S650 the next baseball bat for you?

If I was looking for a new bat for the new season, I definitely would consider the Easton S650 for players that are looking for a minimalistic baseball bat.

A minimalistic bat is one that can get the job done for a low price.  I’m pretty cheap so yea these types are speaking my language.

I am not saying that this bat is bad by any means.  There are some awesome features to this bat that I really like, but its basic and has a good price.

Also, you can trust Easton since they’ve been one of the best baseball bat manufacturers ever.

Easton has been around forever and actually made the first two-piece bat ever. Yup, that’s right.  I think it’s pretty cool if you ask me since I’m a big fan of Easton.

Anyways let’s get to this review, shall we?

Design

First off, the Easton S650 is a one-piece aluminum design, which adds bat speed, control, and balance.  I talk about this a lot on my review of the Easton S150 which you can read by clicking here.

Aircraft Grade Aluminum

Why is this type of aluminum help you?

Well, one of the reasons why they have such strong material on the bat is to make sure that it is light and durable. An airplane can’t get off the ground if it’s too heavy, but it also has to be strong.

Lightweight and strong is what you want in a baseball bat.

Another reason why this aircraft grade aluminum is so great is because of the level of durability that it will bring to the game. I have heard of so many metal baseball bats splitting in half because of the strength of the aluminum.

The last reason why this aircraft grade aluminum on the Easton s650 is nice is for the energy transfer that it brings.

Energy transfer is how much power you put in is actually being put into the ball. You obviously want this as high as you can get it. Your swing will just feel more smooth and solid through the ball.

Youth and Adult Sizes

Another great thing about the Easton S650 is that it comes in Youth and Adult sizes, so virtually any player can get this bat. That was smart by Easton to make this bat accessible to all players.

Adult (-3)

This size is meant for players in college or high school ball. I highly recommend this bat to you guys since it doesn’t break the bank and it will perform as much as you need it to.

I know it isn’t the highest quality bat that you can get on the market today but it is a good choice for players who don’t need that much.

Another good thing about this version is that it has its BBCOR certification for leagues that still use that.

Youth (-9 & -5)

This size is for the little leaguers and such that aren’t up to the drop threes yet.

I would definitely recommend this bat to younger players as well since you want a bat that can last but not break the bank as well.

The other reason why I would get this bat as a Youth baseball player is because it is a one-piece design. It’ll just make it a little easier to swing and get some speed behind the ball.

Performance

Overall the performance of the Easton S650 is up to par with the expectations of Easton baseball bats, but let’s get into more details.

Grip

On this bat, there is a generic feel to the batting grip but it still is great and something that you can get used to.

You can always change the batting grip to a better one like lizard skin, which is a very popular batting grip.  Batting grip is always what you want it to be.

End-Loaded

The end loaded design creates a top heavy feel to it.  I don’t personally like this but for any power hitter, this is for you.

The S650 is a bat for power hitters, and the end loaded design brings a little more pop and power.

I personally like a more balanced feel to my bat so that I can pick up a little more speed, but if you want to hit the ball farther, then you would like the feel of this bat.

Overall

Like I said before, this is a great bat but it is for power hitters.  This is because of the end loaded design which makes the bat a little more top heavy.  Since the S650 is a one-piece design, it does balance out a little bit, resembling a hybrid bat.
