DeMarini 2018 Voodoo Balanced

Did you know that I had a Demarini Voodoo when I was in high school? Probably not but now you do.

I am super excited about the new DeMarini 2018 Voodoo Balanced!  I already know that this bat is going to perform well for baseball players all over the country.  From first-hand experience, I can tell you all of the ups and downs of the DeMarini 2018 Voodoo Balanced.

If you don’t know DeMarini, they are famous for their bats that have super powers packed inside! By this, I mean that their bats are equivalent to the sledgehammers of baseball.  Usually, DeMarini bats are two-piece and are top heavy. I know a lot of guys that benefited from the powers of the top-heavy design and get used to it like I did, but it’s not for all people.  If you think that you need a more balanced bat, this might not be the one for you.

Design

First, off the DeMarini 2018 Voodoo Balanced is BBCOR certified so you can use this in most baseball leagues, especially high school or college.

This bat has an X14 alloy barrel, which makes the bat much stronger and durable.  People like the sound and feel of aluminum, including me.  This type of aluminum also makes the bat lighter, therefore increasing the bat speed. Bat speed is a big part of how far you can hit the ball.

The 3fusion handle makes this bat a little more balanced than other versions, which is a big thing for me. When I was getting used to this bat before, I was behind the ball a lot because of the top-heaviness.  I’m not saying that you will be, that’s just how I was when I used an older model of this bat. The 3fusion end cap also helps balance this bat a little more so you can swing it faster.

Performance

Like I said before, there is great power packed into this bat. Since it is not all top heavy, there is a good balance of pop and pure power made into this bat.

With the strong aluminum alloy material that DeMarini used, there is great bat speed combined with durability.  So not only does the bat get lighter than past versions, but it gets harder than ever.  I am telling you, bat speed is the key to hitting bombs.  Look at the guys on your team that hit far and listen to when they swing.  You can hear the whipping sound as the bat cuts through the air.  Two words: bat speed.

With bat speed comes great responsibility, which means that this bat needs some bulk to it as well.  Therefore there is the signature top-heavy feel that is standard in most DeMarini baseball bats.  You can see me say this a lot when I talk about DeMarini’s, but it can compare to a sledgehammer.  If you ever used a sledgehammer, it feels super heavy at one end, and light where you hold it.  Therefore if you bring it above your head, it comes down faster.  When using the DeMarini 2018 Voodoo Balanced, its the same thing but much lighter an balanced.

Conclusion

Overall I can say that this is a pretty solid bat (literally) and it makes me happy to see a bat I once used keep developing and getting better every year.  The Voodoo can be a magical bat if you learn how to use it right.  By this I mean stay ahead of the ball and know your own stregnth.
