Best Baseball Gloves for Dads [NEW 2020]

Best Baseball Gloves for Dads

We all know that the most important factor to playing catch when you were young was having a dad to throw with. That’s why I made this list of the best baseball gloves for dads.

Nowadays it is more common to throw with your mom or uncle instead, but nonetheless, you have to have a good glove that will last you all of the years warming up your player.

When I was younger, my dad would have this one baseball glove.  At the time it looked so huge on him, but now to me, it is probably average.  He was the one who taught me how to throw correctly.  I remember he barely knew either, as he made me do the windmill and thought that was throwing overhand.

The moral of the story is that dads are not perfect, and sometimes need a little guidance in the baseball world.  I know that my dad did when I was a little league player.

There is a couple of things that I look at when I choose the best “dad glove” for you, whether you’re a dad, mom, or uncle.  Let’s look at some of the things that help me determine which are the best baseball gloves for dads.

Price

You are not going to the major leagues, so, therefore, you do not need an expensive baseball glove.  If you read a lot of my reviews, you can tell that I am kind of cheap.  If there is no reason to spend a lot of money, you can save it and spend it on something else.  That’s just my philosophy.

Also, a lot of dad gloves just aren’t that expensive.  Listen, these glove companies know that they’re making a dad glove, right?  They know that it has to not be a high price because like they always say, there are other gloves in the sand.  No, but seriously, they have to know that right.

The last thing is that you can actually get a pretty good priced glove that will last you forever and let you do everything you want to with it.

Let’s face it, most of you dads or moms or uncles that are reading this want a glove so you can play catch. Hence why the glove price is a big teller if it is meant for that.

If you were interested in playing in a league read my FAQs on adult baseball leagues here, but if you are not, you don’t have to have a better glove than your son.

Style

For dads, I would go for an outfielders glove.  Of course it is 100% up to you what type of glove you get, but in my opinion, it’s the best type for a dad glove.

The reasons are that you can catch the bad throws easier, you can hold more baseballs in it while you are walking to the park, and it might be a little cheaper.

We all know that you don’t become Manny Machado from the jump, so you need a little time to practice getting the ball on target.  That means that at first, your child might miss you a little more than you would think.  Trust me, there is no other way around it, so having a little bigger of a glove helps since you can reach a little farther with it.

When you’re walking to the park with your baseball player, an old technique to carry the baseballs is in your glove.  This is just because it is more convenient and you don’t have to bring extra equipment.  Usually, if you’re playing catch you need one ball but since they’ll be going over the fence and in the dirt, you’d want to bring more.

The last part of the pricing of it and it being cheaper is just my genes talking.  I’m all about saving money and everywhere I can save a little bit I try to.  You don’t have to do that, I’m just telling you what I would do.

Dad-Approved

So I’ve been asking around to other dads and just observing what’s been going on in the dad glove world, and I found the right gloves straight from the source.

Also, when I made my list I would ask dads that I know (including my own) and tried to see if they approved the gloves. If they didn’t… well, dads are stubborn, but if they did then I knew they were keepers to this list.

Before I say something is good for a specific group (high school, youth, etc..) I make it my goal to make sure that that specific group agrees with me.  Pretty smart right?  Do you see the other guys doing that? Probably not. Now let’s get into the best baseball gloves for dads!

Here They Are!

1) Rawlings Renegade (13 Inch H-Web)

The Rawlings Renegade is popular amongst dads across America.  It is big, high quality, and comes from a household name brand.  This glove has a giant pocket, which is great for snagging bad throws.

It just makes it easier to catch and secure the ball.  Another awesome thing about this baseball glove is the low price. It’s not the lowest price but it does compete with some of the best outfielders gloves.

The Rawlings Renegade also features leather that is really high density which makes the glove more sturdy and protects your hand.  No matter how big (or small) your hand is, you can always secure it tightly with the velcro strap. If you want to check it out on Amazon click the button below.

2) Rawlings Sandlot (12-¾ Inch)

The Rawlings Sandlot is another top choice for dads or players with big hands.  Coming in at only a quarter inch shorter than the #1 choice on this list, there are some great things about this glove that all dads can appreciate.

One is the look since this glove has a vintage look to it.  The tint of red and black go together well.  The Rawlings Sandlot outfielders glove has padding everywhere, so even in the cold months, your player won’t break your fingers.

Another awesome feature that I appreciate is that it is already broken in.  You don’t have to waste time doing that yourself.  Go check it out on Amazon with the button below.

3) Rawlings RSB Glove (13 Inch)

What a surprise that another Rawlings glove made the list.  The RSB mitt is great for adult baseball or softball.  The 13-inch design means that you can snag bad throws easier, and don’t have to reach as far to the ground to field a grounder or scoop.

Like some other options, this baseball glove for dads is made with a velcro strap that can secure this glove to any size wrist.  Much like the last glove, the Rawlings RSB is already broken in, so you don’t have to waste time and are able to get out there with your baseball player.  If you want to see more on pricing details click the button below.

4) Rawlings Gamer Glove (12 Inch)

Since this glove is so comfortable and high quality we had to add it to the list.  The Rawlings gamer glove is another top pick for best baseball gloves for dads.

The price is a little higher which is why it is aimed lower on the list.  Also since this is only a 12-inch glove, there is less room in it.  That is another reason why it is lower on the list, but there is a bright side.

Since this glove is smaller, it is easier to control which is good when throws come hard but off-target. No, I do not recommend for people with big hands, but if you’re a dad with smaller hands then this could be the one.

One last thing to add is that it has a closed web which means less dirt can come at your face when you catch the ball.  Sometimes that would happen to me and I noticed it doesn’t happen as much on gloves with this design.  Check it out on Amazon with the button below.

5) Mizuno Franchise H-Web

Mizuno has been known to make quality gloves at a reasonable price. I remember my Dad had a Mizuno glove that he used when he practiced with me. (He still has it!)

Not only will this baby last, but it has nice colors, design, and a nice price.

One of the things that I like about this glove is that it is game-ready. It’s just less of a hassle to not worry about oiling it or hitting it with a bat like a madman. Sometimes if you’re just going to be practicing or playing catch, it doesn’t make sense to do all these crazy things to make sure it’s broken in like you’re playing shortstop for the Yankees. Keep it simple.

Speaking of simple, that’s exactly what this thing is. It is a nice H-Web to keep the ball secure. It also gives that traditional glove feeling. With the fake fur on the wrist, it makes it easy to wear this thing for long periods.

If you want to pick one up or check out the pricing just click the picture or click the button below.

6)  Rawlings Gamer (12-¾ Inch)

Our final glove on this list is the Rawlings Gamer series outfield glove, which comes in at 12-¾ inches.  The reason it comes in last is because of the price, which is the highest on this list.

I wanted to add a really high-quality glove that includes some of the new technology.  For example, this glove has a trap-eze web that makes it easier to close the glove on the ball.

This isn’t something that you need but it is great to have.

Also, this glove has great durability and has high-quality leather included in the design.

I personally would choose this glove but it is on the pricier side.  It isn’t as bad as I’ve seen but it is why it’s lower on the list. Check it out by clicking the button below.

That’s it!

That concludes my list of best baseball gloves for dads. I hope that one of these gloves is your new tool to have fun with your child. Baseball is one of the best sports to create a bond between father/mother/uncle and son so it’s important to have the right glove so you look forward to creating those memories.

Thank you to all those parents or guardians that go out for a catch with your baseball player. It might not seem that much now, but baseball can be one of the most important things in their developing lives.

During baseball, I had to learn discipline because of all of the workouts or practices that I had to go through.

Also, I met my best friends during baseball and without them, I would not have the same work ethic or charisma.

With that being said I hope you can keep them playing baseball for as long as they can. It can make them into a better person overall so thanks for being that figure for them to follow.

Also, sometimes you’re going to have to be the coach so you have to make sure that you are able to function fully. All of these gloves assure that you can do that. Thanks for reading and make sure you check out my other reviews!
